Lot Maris Hadley was born 15 February 1811 in Chatham County, North Carolina. He was the son of Jeremiah Hadley (17968 - 1847) and Ruth Maris (1711 - 1864).

On 1 June 1832, Lot married Eunice Haydock, who was born 23 February 1814 in Randolph County, North Carolina. Eunice was the daughter of Benjamin Haydock and Ruth Dixon (1784 - 1850).

Lot and Eunice had the following children:
    1. Nathan Hadley: 02 October 1832 - 28 November 1904
    2. Asenath Hadley: 08 December 1833 - 28 June 1906
    3. Ann H.Hadley: 29 July 1835 - 27 May 1860
    4. Amy M.Hadley: 04 August 1836 - 17 June 1883
    5. Julia Hadley: 21 April 1839 - 07 April 1909
    6. Jared Patterson Hadley: 14 October 1842 - 20 October 1871

Eunice Haydock Hadley died on 5 July 1867 in Mooresville, Morgan County, Indiana.

On 4 March 1868, Lot married Sophia Prosser (1842 - 1942). Lot and Sophia had the following children:

    1. Arthur Maris Hadley: born 08 November 1870/71
    2. Estella B. Hadley: born 15 March 1877

From History Morgan, Monroe, Brown Cos, IN, by Chas Blanchard, Editor, F. A. Battery & Co., pub 1884, p 272:

"Lot M. Hadley, pioneer farmer and stock raiser, is a native of Chatham Co. NC, was born Feb 5, 1811, and is the youngest of the nine children of Jeremiah and Ruth (Maris) Hadley. Lot M. came to this state in 1823, when the family located on Government land near Mooresville. Mr. Hadley lived to about eighty years of age, and Mrs. Hadley to be within four years of one hundred. Lot M. receive a fair education, which he continually improved by study and reading. Jan 1, 1832, he married in this township Eunice Haydock of North Carolina, which union produced six children--Nathan, Asenath, Ann (deceased), Amy, Julia and Jared C. (deceased). After the death of Mrs. Hadley, July 5, 1867, Mr. Hadley wedded, March 4, 1868 Sophia Crawford, by which marriage he became the father of two children--Arthur M. and Estella B. Mr. Hadley is a Republican, and was once a Whig. He was one of the founders of the Farmers' Bank at Mooresville and is now a Director and one the finance committee. He has also a good farm of 130 acres, where he resides. He is a member of the Friends' Society as was his first and is his second wife."
