Charles Ellsworth Sellers


Charles Ellsworth Sellers was born 12 December 1861 in Morgan County, Indiana. He was the son of Robert Young Sellers (1832-1913) and Amy M. Hadley (1836-1883).

Charles Sellers married Anna Shaffer on 26 February 1885 in Macon County, Illinois. They had four children. Charles Sellers was killed in a railroad accident on 8 August 1906 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois.

RAILROAD MAN KILLED

"Charles Sellers, night foreman at the central freight office was killed Wednesday night. A car was being switched in and he was on the ladder on the side of it. The track is near the freight house and he leaned out too far, striking the edge of the building. He was thrown between the cars and run over. Both legs were crushed below the knees and he was horribly bruised about the body. He was taken to the infirmary but nothing could be done for him. He died about 3 o'clock about fours hours after the accident. Deceased was born in Indiana December 12, 1861 and was married to Miss Anna Shaffer February 26, 1885 in Macon County. Four children were born to the union who with their mother survive. They had lived in Clinton about 15 years and for eight years he had been in Central's employ."
