Washington Hadley was in Guilford County, North Carolina on 12 December 1817. He was the son of Jonathan Hadley (09 September 1779 - ca. 1826) and Ann/Nancy Long (23 March 1783 - 18 June 1870).

On 28 November 1839 he married Naomi Henley at Whitewater River MH in Indiana. Naomi was born in Richmond on 31 July 1819 and was the daughter of Micajah Henley and Gulielma Charles.

Washington and Naomi had eleven children:

    1. Gulielma Hadley (18 September 1840 - 23 September 1846)
    2. Albert Hadley (05 July 1842 - 18 April 1911)
    3. Matilda Hadley (20 March 1844 - 27 July 1920)
    4. Martha Ann Hadley (02 June 1846 - August 1863)
    5. Charles Franklin Hadley (15 October 1848 - 29 October 1872)
    6. Almeda H. Hadley (04 September 1850 - 11 October 1915)
    7. Emilie V. Hadley (06 November 1852 - 23 May 1937)
    8. Ella C. Hadley (01 May 1855 - 06 July 1930)
    9. Laura (Laurie) Hadley (20 November 1857 - 11 October 1927)
    10. Flora Hadley (12 January 1860 - 31 December 1931)
    11. Henry Hadley (29 May 1862 - 09 April 1863)

"Washington Hadley died December 21, 1911 and was succeeded in the presidency of the First National bank by his son, Albert Hadley, who had been associated with his father in the bank of Lawrence, KS and who was for many years cashier of the National Bank of California in Los Angeles. He was a very popular banker, who deserved and received the confidence of a wide circle of friends. At his death his son Fred W. Hadley became president."
